Nursing or support: which service fits?
A clear guide to distinguishing everyday support, personal care and professional nursing.
2 minute readBegin with daily life
The product name is less important than the activity where help is needed. Note what has become difficult, what should remain independent and which tasks require professional healthcare knowledge.
Everyday support
Everyday support is suitable for companionship, routines, walks, accompaniment, meals, shopping and relief for family carers. It supports daily life but does not replace a task that requires professional nursing.
Personal care
Personal care can help with washing, showering, dressing, using the toilet, mobility, eating and drinking. The initial discussion clarifies which support is professionally appropriate and permitted.
Professional nursing
Wound care, medication management, health checks and other nursing tasks are planned around the person’s needs. They are provided only by appropriately qualified staff and within applicable professional and legal requirements.
